Life expectancy in care homes, England and Wales Articles

Dataset

Documentation

Description:
The data defines “care home residents” as people recorded as living in a care home (with or without nursing) on Census Day (in the relevant census) who are linked to mortality records. The mortality data are those of people who died in the period covered; life expectancy is calculated based on observed age-specific death rates among care home residents. The releases include comparisons for non-care home residents of the same age and sex, to highlight the gap in life expectancy between populations. Accompanying datasets include confidence intervals and age/sex specific mortality rates and the life expectancy estimates
